Présentation - missions
The newly established Max Planck Institute Luxembourg is an Institute of the Max Planck Society, which is Germany’s most successful research organization. The Institute in Luxembourg conducts research in the areas of European law of civil procedure, international litigation and arbitration and dispute resolution in the financial markets.
In order to support the development of the collection of its newly created Research Department of Public International Law, the library in currently looking for an Acquisition Librarian (male/female).
The position:
The Acquisition Librarian will be dedicated to the acquisition of publications to develop the library collection in conformity with existing policies, workflows and budget.

Conditions d'exercice
Your tasks:
- Select and order books and other material for the library, such as series, electronic publications, reviews, publisher’s announcements and catalogues;
- Follow policies and procedures linked to the development of the collection;
- Circulate lists of selection among departments for comments;
- Select vendors on the basis of discount allowances and delivery dates;
- Compile statistics on purchases, such as total purchases, average prices and fund allocations;
- Recommend acquisition of materials by building an internal and external network for gathering of relevant information;
- Receive and inspect books and deal with potential claims;
- Process the new books with RFID tags;
- Execute diverse administrative tasks supporting the global activity of the library.
Profil recherché
Your profile:
- You hold a Master degree in Library Science or equivalent;
- You have experience with an integrated library system, knowledge of Aleph will be considered as an asset;
- You are accurate, patient and detailed-oriented;
- You are fluent in English and French or German, any other language being an advantage;
- You are open and enjoy working in an international environment;
- You are open to continuous learning and curious to acquire new skills.
